David Walsh-Kemmis is a farmer and brewery owner from Ballykilcavan, near Stradbally, Co. Laois. Ballykilcavan has been in David’s family since 1639 and he is the 13th generation of the Walsh family to live and work there.
David manages a mix of malting barley and forestry. To diversify the farm, he and his wife Lisa set up Ballykilcavan Brewery in 2018 and added a visitor centre and event space in 2022.
Ballykilcavan beers have won Blas na hÉireann and Concours International de Lyon gold medals. The brewery is a five-time Origin Green gold status member and has won nine national sustainability awards.
