Regenerative Farmer • Moyhill Community Farm • FFN Ambassador
Fergal Smith is a leading force behind Moyhill Community Farm, a 49-hectare regenerative agriculture project dedicated to building resilient local food systems. At the heart of the farm is a no-dig market garden, alongside livestock including cattle and laying hens, all managed using holistic grazing principles.
Fergal is deeply committed to regeneration in its fullest sense—ecological, social and economic—evidenced by the planting of over 30,000 native trees in an evolving agroforestry system. Through direct sales models such as CSA, farm shop and local markets, he maintains a strong connection with the surrounding community.
Education is central to Moyhill’s mission, with internships, open days and collaborative work opportunities helping to inspire the next generation of farmers. As a passionate advocate for regenerative farming, Fergal’s work demonstrates how agriculture can restore landscapes, support livelihoods and reconnect people with food and nature.
As a Farming for Nature Ambassador, Fergal champions soil health, biological farming, and biodiversity, highlighting the link between good farming and good food
