Gareth is a Farming For Nature Ambassador and is a tillage farmer based from Co. Louth, where he manages 242 hectares of land using conservation agriculture principles.
Since transitioning to no-till farming, Gareth has focused on improving soil health, reducing inputs and building resilience through diverse crop rotations and cover cropping. His system includes a wide range of cereals, legumes and companion crops, supporting both productivity and soil health.
By minimising soil disturbance and chemical use, he has enhanced soil structure, reduced carbon loss and created conditions where wildlife can thrive. Birds of prey, owls and even otters have returned to the farm, supported by carefully developed habitats and wildlife corridors.
