Owen Murphy is a wildlife management consultant specialising in ornithology and the conservation of ground nesting birds. His work focuses on practical conservation approaches that support biodiversity and protect vulnerable species across Ireland.
Owen is Project Manager of the Breeding Wader EIP and Programme Director of the Midlands Mink Eradication Programme, working to restore habitats and protect native bird populations from invasive species pressures.
Owen is also a conservation detection dog trainer and handler. His dog Lorg, Ireland’s first American Mink Detection Dog, plays an important role in locating invasive mink and supporting conservation efforts across the Midlands.
